Please understand that the CECAM program distinguishes between two types of events: “flagship events” and “node events”. The former are events that are included in the main “flagship” program of CECAM, as a result of a formal proposal which will be peer reviewed. The latter are events that are typically of local interest for the node, and undergo no proposal-and-peer-review mechanism. We are here interested only in flagship events that are run within the framework of our node, plus node events that refer to our node. Benefits of the “flagship” route include better visibility, plus the chance of additional funding by Headquarters.
Regardless of the type of event, the first step should always be an informal contact with the Node Director (email to duenweg@mpip-mainz.mpg.de), where the intended event is discussed. Typically the event should enter the flagship competition and submit a proposal – however, this is done via the Headquarter web page (https://www.cecam.org/submit-flagship-proposal).
Please understand that we typically expect that your event is related to the node not only thematically, but also geographically (in terms of venue) and/or organizationally (in terms of persons).
